In the old part of Kópavogur we have the commercial district Hamraborg. Hamraborg is a mystical place which has just about everything. A pub for the locals, a grocery store, jeweller, florist and one of the best restaurants in the whole of the capital area – Jordan Grill.
At Jordan Grill they cook up some amazing grub with spicy roots all the way from Jordan and I guarantee you, you will not get a better Shawarma or Falafel in Iceland. The staff is always so nice and up for a chat about the home country but just beware of one thing: If you’re not accustomed to very spicy food I would recommend you get a mild dish because they really know how to spice things up at Jordan Grill.
Even though you stay down town I urge you to take a short bus trip up to Hamraborg and visit Jordan Grill – you won’t regret it for a second!
How to get there?
If you go by taxi you tell the taxi driver you’re going to Jordan Grill at Hamraborg 14a, next to Olís gas station.
It’s also very easy to take the bus and there are numerous buses that stop at Hamraborg, number 1, 2, 4, 28 and 35. When you get out at Hamraborg you will probably be facing a bank, either Íslandsbanki or Landsbanki. You have to walk pass them, facing down town Reykjavík, and make a right at Landsbanki. From there you walk just a few meters into the shopping district and Jordan Grill is on the right hand side. And don’t hesitate to ask the locals – the people of Kópavogur are super nice!
