    Day 1: Reykjavík – Landmannalaugar – Álftavatn

We will start our day early from Reykjavík and head straight to Landmannalaugar. We will be there around 11 o’clock and set out on our hike as soon as we get there. Through the geothermal landscape we set our aim for Álftavatn, on the way will pass Hrafntinnusker the obsidian desert where the place takes its name after. From there we will head out towards Álftavatn Lake, passing Mt. Reykjaföll and into the picturesque Jökultungur area. Before we reach Álftavatn where we will spent the night, we have to cross unbridged streams/rivers.** This is a long demanding day, full of exciting Highland adventure.

    Day 2: Álftavatn – Emstur

We leave the hut after a decent breakfast and a worthy night’s rest. We will continue on the Laugavegur trail heading towards Emstur. This part of the trail is easier than the day before and it will take us through black sand deserts with fantastic contrast mountains, like Stórasúla and Hatfell. We will reach the hut in Emstrur (Botnar) where the Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull lie extended out before us. When the dinner is finished, there is an optional evening hike towards the magnificent 200 meters canyon, Markarfljótsgljúfur. That is an evening hike that you don´t want to miss.

We will leave Emstur and continue our way to Þórsmörk, as we walk alongside Mýrdalsjökull glacier. As we start to descend to Almenningar, we will start to see a change in the landscape and some trees will start to appear. The Laugavegur trail is now behind us as we reach Þórsmörk and we will start to enjoy this beautiful oasis, hiding behind Eyjafjallajökull glacier.
From Þórsmörk we will start heading towards Reykjavík, but we still have one more stop, the magnificent Seljalandsfoss waterfall.
We expect to be back in Reykjavík in the evening.
