At Arnarhóll in down town Reykjavík stands the Central Bank of Iceland, a dark and grey building. Inside the bank, on the ground floor, is The Numismatic Museum – an extremely interesting museum which boasts a collection of old and new coins and bank notes from various periods in Icelandic history.

If you’re into old coins and useless knowledge about Icelandic currency and economics you can get a free guided tour of the museum every week day from 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm.

Try it – you might be introduced to a whole different side of Iceland.
